Our History

Medscan Merrylands was established by Dr John O’Rourke in 2012. His vision was to provide an industry leading imaging service. His commitment is exemplified in our key promises:

Exceptional Service and Care

We are proud to have local and multi-lingual (Arabic, Turkish, Hindi, Tamil, Greek, Cantonese and Mandarin) reception staff and the best available technical staff. This mainly female team allows Medscan to cater to the needs of all patients from various cultural backgrounds, with the highest level of service and patient care in a professional, friendly and timely manner.

We have free undercover parking on site and are conveniently located close to Stockland Mall, Merrylands Train Station and bus interchange.

State of the art Equipment

Medscan Merrylands has always installed the latest technology to deliver the best possible images at the lowest radiation dose. We have just completed a multi-million-dollar equipment upgrade including 2 new CTs, a new SPECT-CT, 5 new ultrasound machines and an MRI upgrade.

CT x 2: Siemens Drive CT: Dual source CT with Tin Filter for lowest dose CT imaging particularly heart imaging (CTCA) and a Siemens go.Top CT: A fast low dose CT capable of imaging any part of the body.

MRI: Siemens Aera 1.5 T MRI. The first MRI in Merrylands. This is partially Medicare rebated meaning GPs are able to order certain MRIs at the bulk bill rate without the need for specialist referral. A just completed upgrade allows improved image quality in less time- e.g. 6 minutes instead of 15 minutes for a brain MRI.

Full range of imaging modalities including Digital X-ray and Digital dental X-rays . Ultrasound including Doppler, 3D/4D imaging and echocardiography. Nuclear medicine imaging with CT SPECT and Bone Mineral Densitometry. Pediatric and Women's imaging including Gynecological, Obstetric and Breast ultrasound. We are also an Intervention and Pain Management Centre specialising in all Biopsies and Injections.

 

Expert Analysis

Our radiologists are all fellowship trained to ensure the most accurate reports and work collaboratively with referring specialists and General Practitioners to ensure the highest standard of care for our patients.
